MINUTES: Minutes from the November 2007 meeting were reviewed. A motion to approve by Bob Holmes, seconded by Lynn Atkins, passed unanimously.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Sec/Treasurer Crane reviewed the Financial Report presented below. A motion to accept the Financial Report was made and seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
RUNWAY FUND: A motion to make our yearly deposit of $600 to the runway fund was made and seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
LYLE SIEVERS MEMORIAL FUND: A Motion to carry The Lyle Sievers Memorial Fund as a separate line item in the Financial Report and was made and seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
LYLE’S LAST TRIP TO THE FIELD: President McDougall reported seeing the Hearse bearing Lyle’s casket being driven toward the flying field prior to driving to San Antonio for the burial service. We will all miss Lyle.
HONORARY MEMBER NOMINEE: Long time member Bob Holmes was nominated for Honorary Membership. The vote to approve Bob as an Honorary Member will be made at the next regular club meeting on March 10, 2008.
MAINTENANCE COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON: Mitch Suthard was appointed as the Maintenance Committee Chairperson and will help select and recruit members to help him with field maintenance. If you can help, please see Mitch.
DONATIONS TO THE CLUB: A Storage Cabinet, Refrigerator, and Microwave have been donated by George Brugnoli, Ed Bullock, and Mitch Suthard respectively. Thank these guys for their donations, please.
SAFETY COMMITTEE ESTABLISHMENT: Safety Officer Brugnoli requested the establishment of a Safety Committee. President McDougall appointed the committee with the Safety Officer as chairman and all of the Intro Pilot Instructors and Jesse Webb as committee members.
SAFETY CHECK PROGRAM: Safety Officer Brugnoli reported that our Safety Check List and program appears to be working well. Let’s keep supporting this and perhaps we can minimize our BFI contributions to the landfill.
AMA INTRO PILOT DISCUSSION: Ed Bullock described a discussion that he had with the AMA concerning the Intro Pilot Program and the advantages/disadvantages of the club participating in this completely voluntary program that seems to benefit the AMA more than the club. There was a lot of free exchange by the attendees but nothing was formally decided and undoubtedly will be an agenda item for the next meeting.
SWAP MEET/FLOAT FLY COMMITTEE ESTABLISHMENT: This year’s committee was appointed with Ed Bullock chairing the committee that consists of members Brugnoli and Archer.
WORK DAY AND TRASH PICK-UP: All members were reminded that the morning after a meeting is always a work and trash pick-up day.
COMBINATION CHANGE: The combination to the gates and south hut has been changed. See any member that attended the meeting for the new combination.
VP BULLOCK RESIGNATION: President McDougall read a letter from Ed Bullock resigning his position as Vice President. After thanking Ed for his service, President McDougall accepted the resignation and asked for nominations to fill the vacancy. Dave Schaefer was nominated and Lynn Atkins seconded the nomination. Dave was elected unanimously.
